Gingerbread & Architecture in Poland

Before exploring Warsaw we spent two nights in Torun on the Vistula river. Often described as a mini Krakow, Torun is a beautiful, unspoilt mediaeval city. If you like going to places that are slightly undiscovered, this is the perfect destination for you.

Famed for its gingerbread and the birthplace of Copernicus the old town is easy to explore on foot and enjoy the architecture. High gothic, art nouveau and baroque combined.

We stayed within the old town walls at the charming 1231 hotel – named after the founding year of the city.

You can fly direct to Bydgoszcz (Ryanair only) or alternatively start in Warsaw and travel by train to Torun and then on to Gdansk which is just two hours away.
