Torun is often called a Pearl of Northern Gothic and as opposed to Krakow still remains undiscovered, so we urge you to visit now.

The birthplace of astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, who ‘stopped the sun and moved the earth’, the city is famed for its UNESCO-protected medieval Old Town and delicious gingerbread.

Torun, unlike many other historic cities in Poland, avoided significant destruction during World War II. In particular, the Old Town was left intact, so all its important monuments of architecture are original, not reconstructions.

There are direct flights to Bydgoszcz from London and Birmingham, or combine Torun with Warsaw (2hr 40mins by train, or 3 hours by car).
